Wash mushrooms cleanly and cut into slices. Add pepper powder to it. Add half the quantity of sambhar powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste. Coat all the powders well on to the mushroom and spread it on a grilling tray.
Grill mushrooms for few minutes till the moisture in the mushroom gets evaporated. Let it cool for a minute or two.
Add Bengal gram flour, rice flour, sambhar powder asafoetida and salt to taste. Sprinkle water and let it be in a slight bhajji consistency.
Dip each mushroom slice into the batter and fry in medium hot oil till it's golden brown. Fry curry leaves and serve on top while serving.
